The Heart of the Maryland Bible Society's Mission --  Scripture Grants

The work of the Maryland Bible Society over the past 199 years has been to provide the Bible in all languages and translations for all people, and to promote the reading and study of God's Word, as well as partner with hundreds of churches, denominations and non-denominational mission and ministry groups.   Between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009, MBS provided over $50,000 worth of Scripture Grants to ministries in Maryland, DC, Delaware, Virginia and across the United States and in several foreign countries. 600,000 pieces of Scripture were distributed in English, Spanish and a number of other languages.

Here is a recent list of Scripture Grants -  thank you for giving to support our Scripture Grants -- your gifts make these Bibles and New Testaments available to hundreds of people hungry for spiritual food contained in the Bible.

New Zion Baptist Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey - working with young people in the streets of Elizabeth and Newark.

Helping Up Mission in Baltimore, Maryland - providing God's Word for men and women who are physically cared for and assisted at the mission

The Pastoral Care Department at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma, Maryland

Liberty Christian School, Owings Mills, Maryland

Rev. Bob Mathieu, D.C. Christian Ministries in the heart of Washington, DC

Baltimore City Detention Center and the ministry of Mr. John Plasterer who comes one or two times a month to get 300 Bibles for work with prisoners

Wabanna Camp & Conferen ce Center in Edgewater, Maryland working with retreats and summer camping for children and youth

Mark Miller, Metro-Maryland Youth for Christ, Baltimore, Maryland for their mission trip to the Dominican Republic with Spanish Scriptures and 1,000 Gospels of John for their Youth Impact event in Ocean City Maryland

Son Spot Ministries at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland - working with the American Bible Society - 12,000 New Testaments are being shipped to Son Spot for their very large ministry to youth and young adults

Sister Dolores Chepiga, St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, Prison ministry of the Archdiocese of Baltimore

New Psalmist Baptist Church, Minister Charles Taylor for Evangelism Outreach Ministries ........ and many, many more grants ----  over 220 Grants were made by Maryland Bible Society in the past year.
